Summary of question
Is there is any problem in touching the script of the Holy Quran without Wudhu? What if a person touches the script by mistake?
question
Is there any problem or objection in touching the script of the Holy Quran with the intention that we consider it as a scientific book or a book for narrating stories (for example, when we narrate the story of Prophet Yusuf we touch its script as a scientific or history book not as Quran)? What if a person touches the script of the Holy Quran without Wudhu by mistake?
Concise answer

It is haraam to touch the script of the holy Qur'an with any part of one's body, without performing Wudhu. However, there is no harm in touching the translation of the holy Qur'an, in any language, without Wudhu.[1]

It is haraam, as an obligatory precaution, to touch the Name of Allah, without Wudhu, in whichever language it may have been written. And it is also haraam to touch, without Wudhu, the blessed names of the Holy Prophet of Islam, the holy Imams and Hazrat Fatima Zahra (peace be upon them).[2]

However, it is makrooh (abominable) for a person in the state of Janabat to touch the cover, the margin or border of the holy Qur'an, with one’s body and keeping the holy Qur'an with oneself.[3] In case, however, a person touches the Quran or holy names by mistake, there is no problem.

Note: It is Mustahab (recommended) to have Wudhu for touching the margins of the Quran also.
