Summary of question
Have the books of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim undergone alteration and change? What were the reasons behind such alterations?
question
I have heard that in the various books of the Ahlul Sunnah, such as Sahih Bukhari, Muslim, and others there are traditions which the Shias accept as authentic. When I tried to look through these books I didn’t find any of these traditions. I then asked a Shia scholar as to why these traditions, which were accepted by the Shia, were not to be found in these books he answered that this was because the government of Saudi Arabia and its publishers had removed these traditions from the books. I think that believing such a thing is not in fact logical. Why should an Islamic government or Islamic institutions (such as publishing houses) engage in such behavior? Is there any evidence and documentation for saying that traditions from the aforementioned books have been removed? Is there any reason and evidence for the translators not having permission for translating these specific hadiths from Arabic to English? This is a very strange accusation! If you have any reasons or documentation about this matter please list them along with the sources name, publisher, and volume. Please give your opinion of this matter and explain what the Shia scholars believe in respect to this matter so that people can become aware and the reality can become clearer for the Ahlul Sunnah.
